Who is Kris Light? Kris has taught science education outreach programs for 38 years through the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the American Museum of Science and Energy. She enjoys traveling and nature photography. She uses her photography to educate children and adults about the natural world. She enjoys finding UFOs when she is hiking! 

Her photos have been published in several wildflower and nature field guides.The most unusual photo she has had published was the close up of the mouth of an upside down sea urchin, it was used in a Hawaiian language kindergarten textbook! 

Have you ever been hiking or on a photography outing and come across some strange fungus, gall, caterpillar or other creature that you have never seen before?

Kris Light will show examples of unusual organisms she has encountered on hikes, during her science outreach classes over the years and even a few from her neighborhood.

She hopes learning about the plants, fungi, and animals that seem weird or gross or maybe simply overlooked will give our members a different outlook on our natural world.
