Are you crazy about wildflowers?  Have you been enduring the wrath of Winter waiting for the wave of blooms of Spring wildflowers to begin?  This is the field event for you.

We've been waiting on announcements for opening of sections of the park, but we don't want to wait anymore.  We may adapt and change locations depending on whether Roaring Fork opens up when it has historically opened on April 1.

In any event, we plan to start the day at Cove Hardwood Trail at the Chimneys Picnic Area.  If you know this area, you know it is a relatively short, somewhat steep trail that reminds us of a "fairy land" with the carpeting blooms of White Fringed Phacelia.  From there, we plan to eat lunch (pack a lunch), then if Roaring Fork is NOT open, we plan to head over to the quiet side of the Smokies and explore Chesnut Top Trail and if you are feeling adventurous, we will end the afternoon at Schoolhouse Gap Trail.

If you sign up, please consider carpooling because parking will be extremely limited.  In addition, make sure you have the appropriate parking permit for your vehicle.
