Maximum Number of Participants (5 minimum for judging): No maximum.
Purpose of this Challenge: In November, we’re exploring the beauty of aging and change — where color, texture, and time intersect. Whether you’re wandering through the antique car junkyard (don't miss this SANP Field Event!) or photographing the quiet corners of a park or garden (UT Gardens perhaps?), look for the small details that tell a larger story.
Rust, peeling paint, weathered chrome, fading leaves, and seed pods — all reveal nature’s artistry and the passage of time. Focus close, use your macro or telephoto lens, and let texture and color be your guides. Maybe take a different approach and use a wide angle lens up close instead of the usual vast, wide scene. Be creative.
Incorporate the warm hues of fall wherever you find them, from the patina of metal to the glow of waning, late-season foliage. Whether these hues are background features or part of the main subject, push yourself to incorporate complementary colors for extra pop in your images. There is so much wonder to discover when we slow down and look closer at those things we'd normally pass right by. I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with.
Challenge Procedure: You must register for this challenge if you want to submit images for judging. You may submit up to three images for judging, following the guidelines below for file naming, file size, and deadline. Judges will not know who submitted the images under review. If you have questions, contact Hill Henry, at thillhenry@gmail.com.
Note: Challenge image submissions will be posted (anonymously until after judging) in a Challenge Gallery on the SANP Zenfolio website accessible to the public; winners will be displayed on SANP social media, the SANP website, and in the SANP Newsletter.
