SANP September Meeting:

The Life Cycle of the Monarch Butterfly

Kris Light

SANP is pleased to announce that the speaker for our September meeting will be Kris Light. Kris is the Science Outreach Educator for the American Museum of Science and Energy. Kris led the wonderful spring field trip to Frozen Head State Park.

Kris will be covering the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly.  This includes the fantastic 2000+ mile trip one generation of Monarchs makes in the fall to overwinter in the mountains of central Mexico. Kris will show the trip up the mountains to see the spectacle of millions of Monarchs that hang from the tree branches.  They can be in such large clusters they sometimes they break the tree limbs!

The meeting is on Tuesday September 30, 2025.  Social time starts at 6:30pm with the meeting starting at 7:00pm.  The meeting location is the Goins Auditorium in the J.L. Goins Administration Building on the Pellissippi State Community College campus at 10915 Hardin Valley Road, Knoxville, TN.   See you there!
