SANP July Meeting:

Frame the Wild:  Photographing Yellowstone without a Guide

Dale Potter

We are pleased to announce that our speaker for the July meeting is Dale Potter, the SANP Workshops and Salon Manager.  Join us for an engaging and down-to-earth presentation by a devoted Canon enthusiast and longtime SANP member. Dale’s first encounter with Yellowstone dates back to the late 1970s when he was stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne during his time in the Air Force. Though he’s an unpublished photographer, his lifelong passion for photography — and the wildlife and landscapes of Yellowstone — makes his perspective both relatable and inspiring.

In this program, Dale will share some of his favorite images from Yellowstone and the Tetons — photos that reflect the joys and challenges of photographing these iconic parks without the help of a professional guide. Through personal stories, missteps, and hard-won lessons, Dale will show that you can experience and photograph Yellowstone meaningfully on your own. You'll leave with practical tips, honest insights, and inspiration for your adventures in these iconic landscapes.

Whether you're a beginner, a budget traveler, or simply curious about self-guided photography in national parks, this presentation is for you.  Come enjoy a real photographer’s journey — no fame, no filters — just a love for the wild and a camera in hand.
