SANP is proud to present, with the assistance of Roger Trentham, a Spring Wildflower workshop of the Smokies.  Roger is a nature and wildlife photographer in the Gatlinburg area.  Roger conducts numerous workshops throughout the year with national photographers in addition to his workshops. Roger has agreed to do this workshop for those registered with SANP.  Roger will be helping and offering instruction to those who need it at this workshop.

Why Should You Attend Roger’s Workshop: You will have the opportunity to photograph wildflowers at Roger’s residence which has an outstanding variety of wildflowers that are in the Smokies.  For those of you who are not able or do not like to hike to get your photographs, this workshop is for you.  You will get the chance to see some native wildflowers that normally require one to hike to see. Roger is one of those fortunate that his property has a variety of flowers native to the Smokies.  This workshop is for those who would like to improve their ability to photograph wildflowers and other items of interest around Roger’s property.

These are some of the flowers you may see on this workshop in their native habitat.

For the Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Photographer: You will learn how to photograph wildflowers using your tripod, your macro lens, your diffusers and reflectors, and your flash.  If you do not have reflectors, there should be some available  for you to use.  There will be table with flowers set up for photography for those who prefer to avoid getting eye level on the ground with the flowers. You will have a chance to use focus stacking for your images.

What to Bring: Your camera, charged batteries, memory card, a lens from macro to general landscape lens, flash, reflectors, and a remote for your camera.  Bring your cellphone if you wish to experiment with the camera functions but do not expect instructions for the cellphone.

Rules You Must Know: There is a minimum of six and a maximum of ten for this workshop.  There is no refund.  Guests are not allowed to accompany you to this workshop.  If this event is postponed due to the weather another date will be provided.  There are two different dates for this workshop.  Make sure you pick the date that you wish to attend before you register for the event.

Date and Time:  January 20, 2024. Directions and more information will be emailed to those who register for this event.  The event will officially start at 9:00 am.

Snacks and Drinks:  Bring your choice.

Location: To be provided to those registering by email.

Registration is available until April 18th or all positions are taken.  Everyone who attends must register online, with no exceptions. Do not wait to register for this event as positions are limited and will not be exceeded.

Registration fees: Members fee is $ 95 dollars. Non-members fee is $125 dollars which will include twelve months of membership in SANP.

The variety of flowers will depend on the weather.  Any questions email me at dalepotter55@gmail.com
