Greenbrier Field Trip
May 5, 2001

photoGeorge Humphries led a group of 12 SANP members on a memorable photographic field trip to the Greenbrier Creek section of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Saturday May 5th 2001.

Greenbrier creek is actually the middle prong of the Little Pigeon River. The photomajor tributaries are Porters Creek, Ramsay Creek and Webb creek.

Roads running along these creeks provide easy access and lots of photographic opportunities. This same convenient access means that you will be sharing the countryside with fishermen, kayakers, swimmers and lots of other people during the warmer months.

Besides the wonderful plunge pools and rapids, there are an abundance of wild flowers and other things to photograph in this area.photo

Michael Whitaker was kind enough to share some of his images from the field trip for this article.
